Reading the Story: Badal and Moti

Welcome to the beautiful story of Badal and Moti! In this lesson, we will read together a heartwarming tale about two best friends — Badal, a fluffy white cloud floating high in the sky, and Moti, a tiny, sparkling drop of water. Their friendship teaches us about nature, kindness, and how everyone has an important role to play in our world.

The Story: Badal and Moti

Part 1: Meeting in the Sky

Once upon a time, high above the earth, there lived a cloud named Badal. Badal was big, white, and fluffy. He loved floating across the sky, watching the world below. Sometimes he would float over mountains, sometimes over rivers, and sometimes over green fields full of flowers.

One day, Badal met a tiny, shining drop of water named Moti. Moti was bright and sparkled like a little diamond in the sunlight.

"Hello!" said Badal in his deep, gentle voice. "Who are you?"

"I am Moti," said the little drop. "I am a water drop, and I live inside you!"

Badal was surprised. "Inside me? How is that possible?"

Moti laughed. "Yes! You are made of millions of tiny drops just like me. We all come together to make you a cloud!"

Badal smiled. "Then we are friends! Let's travel together across the sky."

And so, their friendship began.

{{KEY: type=definition | title=Cloud (Badal) | text=A cloud is a collection of millions of tiny water drops or ice crystals that float together in the sky. Clouds are formed when water vapour rises up and cools down.}}

{{KEY: type=definition | title=Water Drop (Moti) | text=A water drop is a small, round piece of water. Many water drops come together to form clouds, rain, rivers, and oceans.}}

Part 2: Traveling Together

Every day, Badal and Moti traveled across the sky. They saw many wonderful things.

  • They floated over green forests where birds sang sweet songs.
  • They drifted over blue oceans where fish swam and played.
  • They passed above busy cities where children went to school and people worked.

Moti loved looking down at the earth. "Badal, look! The trees are so green and beautiful. But some of them look dry and sad."

Badal looked down. It was true. In some places, the rivers were almost empty. The fields were brown and the flowers had wilted. The animals looked tired and thirsty.

"Those places need water," said Badal. "Without water, plants cannot grow, animals cannot drink, and people cannot live."

Moti felt sad. "Can we help them, Badal?"

Badal smiled kindly. "Yes, Moti. That is our job! We must bring rain to the earth."

{{VISUAL: photo: two cheerful 8-year-old children standing in a sunny garden, one pointing up at fluffy white clouds in a bright blue sky, the other holding a watering can near colourful flowers, both smiling happily, warm storybook lighting}}

{{KEY: type=concept | title=Importance of Rain | text=Rain is very important for life on Earth. It gives water to plants, animals, and people. Without rain, the land becomes dry, plants die, and there is no food or water for living beings. Clouds bring rain by releasing tiny water drops.}}

Part 3: The Big Decision

"But Badal," said Moti softly, "if we bring rain, that means I will have to leave you. I will fall down to the earth as rain. We will not be together anymore."

Badal's voice was warm and gentle. "That is true, my dear friend. But think of all the good you will do! You will give life to the thirsty plants. You will fill the rivers and lakes. You will make children laugh and play in the rain. That is a beautiful thing."

Moti thought for a moment. She looked down at the dry fields and empty rivers. She thought about the trees waiting for water, and the animals hoping for a drink.

"You are right, Badal," said Moti bravely. "I will go. Even though I will miss you, I want to help the earth."

Badal was proud of his little friend. "You are very brave, Moti. And remember — this is not goodbye forever. After you fall as rain, you will join a river or a lake. The sun will warm you, and you will rise up into the sky again as water vapour. You will come back to me, and we will be together again as a cloud!"

Moti's eyes sparkled with joy. "Really? I will come back?"

"Yes," said Badal. "This is called the water cycle. Water travels from the sky to the earth and back to the sky again. We will meet many times, my friend."

{{KEY: type=concept | title=The Water Cycle | text=The water cycle is the journey water takes as it moves from the earth to the sky and back again. Water falls as rain, collects in rivers and lakes, evaporates into water vapour, rises to form clouds, and falls as rain again. This cycle continues forever.}}

{{ZOOM: title=Water Vapour | text=Water vapour is water in the form of invisible gas. When water in rivers, lakes, or oceans is heated by the sun, it turns into water vapour and rises up into the sky. This process is called evaporation.}}

Part 4: The Rain

And so, when Badal floated over the dry fields, he released Moti and millions of other water drops. Down, down, down they fell — gently at first, then faster.

Pitter-patter, pitter-patter!

The rain kissed the earth. The dry soil soaked up the water. The flowers lifted their heads and smiled. The trees drank deeply and their leaves turned green again. The rivers began to flow. Children ran outside, laughing and dancing in the rain.

Moti felt happy as she splashed onto a green leaf. "I did it, Badal! I helped the earth!"

Though Badal could not hear her anymore, he smiled from above. He knew his friend was doing something wonderful.

Days passed. The sun shone warmly on the rivers and lakes. Slowly, Moti and her friends turned into water vapour and rose up, up, up into the sky. There, they met Badal once again.

"Welcome back, my friend!" said Badal joyfully.

"I'm home!" said Moti. "And now I understand — by helping others, we help ourselves. Our friendship makes the whole world a better place!"

And so, Badal and Moti continued their journey across the sky, bringing rain to the earth, again and again, forever.
