My Name Is...
My Name Is...
Hello, I Am Special!
Every person in this world is unique and special. And do you know what makes you you? Your name! Your name is the very first gift your family gave you. It is the word people use to call you, to know you, and to remember you. Just like you have your own face, your own smile, and your own favorite color, you also have your very own name.
When you were born, your parents thought very carefully and chose a name that they loved. Some names have beautiful meanings. Some names are the same as grandparents or other family members. Some names come from stories, nature, or things that parents love. Your name is yours, and it is important!

What Is a Name?
A name is a word or group of words by which you are known and called. It helps people identify you and talk to you.
{{KEY: type=definition | title=Name | text=A name is a special word that is used to call a person, animal, place, or thing. Your name makes you different from everyone else.}}
Everyone has a name:
You have a name.
Your mother and father have names.
Your teacher has a name.
Your friends have names.
Even your pet has a name!
Names are so important that we use them every day — at home, at school, in the park, and everywhere we go.
My Full Name
Most of us have more than one name. We have a first name (also called a given name) and a last name (also called a family name or surname). Some children also have a middle name.
Let us understand this with an example:

Example 2
First Name
Aarav
Meera
Middle Name
Kumar
Singh
Last Name
Sharma
Patel
Full Name
Aarav Kumar Sharma
Meera Singh Patel
Your full name is made up of all these parts together. Your first name is the name your family calls you at home. Your last name is shared with your family members like your parents, brothers, and sisters.
{{KEY: type=concept | title=Full Name | text=A full name includes your first name, middle name (if you have one), and last name. It is the complete name that is written in your school records and other official places.}}

How Do I Introduce Myself?
Introducing yourself means telling someone your name when you meet them for the first time. It is a very important skill!
When you meet someone new, you can say:
Stuck on something here?
Aarav Sir explains any part — voice or chat — 24/7.
"Hello, my name is ________." (Fill in your name)
"Hi, I am ________." (Fill in your name)
"Good morning! My name is ________." (Fill in your name)
After you say your name, you can smile! A smile makes everyone feel happy and welcome.
{{KEY: type=points | title=Steps to Introduce Yourself | text=- Look at the person with a smile.
Say "Hello" or "Hi" in a clear voice.
Say "My name is" followed by your first name.
You can also shake hands gently (if it is an adult or older child).}}
Practice time! Stand in front of a mirror at home. Look at yourself and say, "Hello, my name is ________." Say it clearly and with a big smile. Now you are ready to introduce yourself to anyone!
Spelling My Name
Knowing how to spell your name means knowing which letters make up your name and in which order they come.
For example:
If your name is Ravi, the letters are: R-a-v-i
If your name is Anjali, the letters are: A-n-j-a-l-i
Each letter is important. If even one letter is wrong or missing, it becomes a different name or word!
Let's Learn to Spell Our Name
Follow these simple steps:
Say your name out loud slowly.
Listen carefully to each sound in your name.
Write each letter one by one on paper.
Practice writing your name every day.
You can practice writing your name in different fun ways:
With colorful crayons
With your finger in sand or rice
On a slate or whiteboard
In your notebook with a pencil
{{VISUAL: diagram: a cute cartoon pencil character with a happy face writing the name "MAYA" in big, colorful, chunky bubble letters on cheerful lined paper with stars and smiley faces around it}}
{{KEY: type=exam | title=Practice Makes Perfect | text=In your EVS class, you may be asked to write your full name clearly. Practice writing your first name and last name neatly every day so you can do it confidently in class and exams.}}
Why Is My Name Important?
Your name is important for many reasons:
Identity: Your name tells people who you are. It is your special identity.
Belonging: Your last name connects you to your family. It shows you belong to them.
Respect: When someone calls you by your name, it shows they care about you and respect you.
Recognition: Your name is written on your books, your school bag, your certificates, and many important things. It helps people know that these things belong to you.
Your name is a big part of who you are. Be proud of your name, learn to say it clearly, and learn to write it beautifully!
{{KEY: type=concept | title=Why Names Matter | text=Names give us our identity and help us belong to our family. They are used to call us, recognize us, and show respect. Your name is special and important, and you should always be proud of it.}}
Let's Remember
Your name is your first and most important identity. Say it with pride, write it with care, and always remember — you are special, and so is your name!
In the next part of this lesson, we will learn more about our age, our family, and what makes each of us unique and wonderful. Get ready to explore more about yourself!
