Seeing Clouds in the Sky
Page 1 of 3: Seeing Clouds in the Sky
Look Up at the Sky!
Have you ever looked up at the sky on a sunny morning? What do you see? Yes, you see the bright blue sky! But do you also notice something white and fluffy floating gently above you? Those beautiful white things are called clouds. Clouds are one of nature's most wonderful sights, and they are always there, changing their shapes and moving across the sky.

Clouds are made of tiny water droplets or ice crystals that float high above the ground. When the sun heats the water in rivers, lakes, and oceans, some of that water turns into an invisible gas called water vapour. This water vapour rises up into the sky, and when it gets very high where the air is cold, it turns back into tiny droplets of water. These droplets come together to form clouds!

Clouds Are Everywhere
Clouds are not just pretty to look at — they are very important for our planet Earth! Clouds help bring us rain, which waters our plants, fills our rivers, and gives us fresh water to drink. Without clouds, there would be no rain, and life on Earth would be very difficult.
Every day, whether you are at home, at school, or playing in the park, you can see clouds in the sky. Sometimes the sky is full of many clouds, and sometimes there are just a few. On some days, the clouds cover the whole sky and make it look grey. On other days, there are only a few small clouds scattered across a bright blue sky.

Watching Clouds Is Fun
One of the best things about clouds is that they are always moving and changing. If you lie down on the grass and watch the clouds for a few minutes, you will see them slowly drift across the sky. Sometimes they move fast, and sometimes they move slowly. The wind pushes them along, carrying them from one place to another.
{{VISUAL: diagram: a simple cartoon sky scene showing three fluffy white clouds with happy smiling faces moving from left to right, with gentle blue arrows showing wind direction, bright cheerful colours, storybook style}}
Clouds also change their shapes. One moment, a cloud might look like a big ball of cotton. A few minutes later, the same cloud might stretch out and look completely different! This is because clouds are made of water droplets that are always moving and mixing together. The wind blows them into different shapes, making cloud-watching a fun and exciting activity.
What Do Clouds Look Like?
Stuck on something here?
Aarav Sir explains any part — voice or chat — 24/7.
Different people see different things when they look at clouds. Some people see animals, some see objects, and some see magical creatures! Have you ever looked at a cloud and thought it looked like a rabbit, a dragon, or maybe a big fluffy pillow? This is called imagination, and it is a wonderful skill to have.
When you use your imagination to see pictures in the clouds, you are being creative. There is no right or wrong answer when you look at clouds — whatever you see is special and unique to you! Your friend might look at the same cloud and see something completely different, and that's perfectly fine.
{{KEY: type=concept | title=Using Imagination with Clouds | text=When we look at clouds, we can use our imagination to see different shapes and pictures. One cloud might look like an animal to you and something else to your friend. This helps us think creatively and see the world in new and interesting ways.}}
Let's Start Cloud Watching
Cloud watching is a simple activity that anyone can do. All you need is a comfortable place to sit or lie down, a clear view of the sky, and a curious mind ready to explore! You can watch clouds from your balcony, your garden, a park, or even through your classroom window.
The best time to watch clouds is during the day when there is plenty of light. Morning and afternoon are great times because the sun makes the clouds look bright and beautiful. You can also watch clouds in the evening when the sun is setting — sometimes clouds turn pink, orange, or golden as the sun goes down!

Tips for Cloud Watching
Here are some simple tips to make your cloud-watching experience even more enjoyable:
Find a comfortable spot: Sit on a chair, lie on a mat, or sit on soft grass where you can look up easily.
Take your time: Clouds move slowly, so be patient and watch them carefully.
Look at different clouds: Notice which clouds are big, which are small, which are thick, and which are thin.
Share with friends: Cloud watching is more fun when you do it with family or friends. You can talk about what each person sees!
Draw what you see: After watching clouds, you can draw pictures of the shapes you imagined.
{{KEY: type=exam | title=Remember This | text=In your exams, you may be asked to describe what clouds look like or why clouds are important. Remember that clouds are made of water droplets, they bring rain, and they change shapes because of the wind.}}
Nature's Beautiful Show
Clouds are like a free show that nature puts on for us every single day! They float, they dance, they change, and they surprise us with their beauty. The sky is like a big canvas, and clouds are the paintings that appear on it. No two clouds are exactly the same, and no two days have the exact same clouds in the sky.
By learning to observe and appreciate clouds, you are opening your eyes to the wonders of nature. You are learning to slow down, look around, and see the beauty that surrounds us all the time. This skill of careful observation will help you not just in learning about clouds, but in understanding the whole world around you!
The sky is always there, and so are the clouds — waiting for you to look up, wonder, and imagine!
In the next pages, we will learn about different types of clouds, their special names, and how to recognize them. We will also explore fun activities you can do to become a cloud expert! But for now, remember this: the next time you step outside, take a moment to look up at the sky. What clouds do you see? What shapes can you find? Let your imagination soar as high as the clouds themselves!
